About the school
The school is a co-educational secondary special school in Sheffield for students aged 11-19 with learning difficulties and complex needs, including communication, sensory, physical and medical disabilities.

The Role
You’ll primarily provide cover for teachers during Annual Reviews and short-term absences, working flexibly across all three school sites. You’ll also support learning delivery and assist with classroom administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons to whole classes and small groups
- Support teachers with lesson planning, preparation and delivery
- Supervise and coordinate teaching assistants
- Liaise with parents, therapists and other professionals
- Contribute to annual reviews, student assessments and progress reporting
- Support students’ learning, personal care, communication and physical needs
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively
Essential Requirements
- Higher-Level Teaching Assistant Standards or equivalent qualifications/experience
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
- Experience working with students with complex and behavioural needs
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
- Collaborative team player
- Proficiency in Safe Moving and Handling and Team Teach (training provided)
