Deputy Headteacher – Curriculum Lead KS4 and 5 


Location: Nuneaton, CV11

Contract: full time, fixed term

Start date: April 2023 or Sooner

Salary Grade: L18 – L22


Reporting to: Headteacher

Roles and Responsibilities:

The school Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document gives details of the role and professional responsibilities of the Deputy Head teacher. Within that framework, particular emphasis is focused on the following:

To work closely with therapists and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.

  • Principal lead 14 – 19
  • Curriculum Lead, including accreditation and destinations pathways KS4 and 5
  • Total Communication Lead 14 – 19
  • Business and Enterprise Coordinator for Secondary School     
  • College and Business Link Coordinator for 14 – 19
  • Coordinator for transition into adulthood
  • Attendance Lead 14 – 19
  • Pupil admissions and consultations
  • Schools Direct Lead
  • Designated Lead for NQTs
  • Performance Management Lead in line with Trust policy
  • Volunteers Coordinator
  • Induction Manager for new staff across secondary school
  • Quality Assurance
  • Cover and lunchtime staff coordinator
  • Lunchtime activities coordinator
  • 0.2 Teaching commitment 


Leadership and Management:

  • Actively lead on curriculum developments 14 – 19 and support middle leaders to maximise learning opportunities for all pupils
  • Principal lead for key stages 4 and 5 and coordinate transition into adulthood
  • Ensure effective communication within the school, to ensure the smooth day to day operational running of the school
  • Lead, manage and support teachers, teaching assistants, volunteers and non-teaching staff.
  • Support the Head Teacher and other leaders with appraisals
  • Promote positive standards of conduct from staff and support staff wellbeing and attendance, in line with school policies 
  • Liaise with families and key professionals, such as health colleagues, as part of a multi-disciplinary team working to support pupil outcomes
  • Review the quality of teaching and learning in school, conduct monitoring activities in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team

These duties and responsibilities should be regarded as neither exhaustive nor exclusive as the post holder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grading of the post. You will be required to attend meetings outside of school working hours to support school governance and other school functions.
