About the Role
Connex Education is working in partnership with a primary school in Nottingham to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a 1:1 support role, starting in September. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity (5 days per week) to make a real difference in a child’s life by supporting their social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing learning environment.
The successful candidate will be supporting a pupil with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, anxiety, and challenging behaviours, working closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to implement tailored strategies that foster progress and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN in a primary school setting
- Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs)
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Adapt learning materials to meet the child’s specific needs
- Collaborate with teaching staff and external specialists
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Assignment Details
- Start Date: September 2025
- Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week
- Duration: Long-term, continuing through the academic year with potential to become permanent

Person Specification
- Experience working with children aged 4–11 in a UK school setting
- Background supporting children with autism, anxiety, and/or challenging behaviours
- Confident supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
- Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills
- Patient, proactive, and committed to making a positive impact
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for a new one)
