About the Role
Connex Education is working with a specialist education setting in the Chelmsford area to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time, fixed-term position starting in September 2025.
This welcoming and inclusive setting supports children and young people with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and a range of associated social, emotional, and communication needs. The school promotes a nurturing environment, placing strong emphasis on life skills, emotional development, and positive relationships alongside academic progress.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs and who thrives in a calm, supportive, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group support to pupils with SEND across the school day
- Assist with the delivery of differentiated learning activities and personal development programmes
- Help implement and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction, and communication
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment, promoting independence and confidence
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team to deliver consistent care and support
Assignment Details
- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Working hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Full Time, Long Term Supply
Person Specification
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, especially MLD or ASD
- Ability to support both learning and social development with a calm, adaptable approach
- A team player who can work collaboratively with other staff and contribute to a strong support system
- A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Connex
- Willingness to assist with personal care if required
