SEND HLTA – Secondary School (Birmingham, near Harborne)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: 4 days per week (Thursdays & Fridays essential, plus 2 negotiable days)
Hours: 8:15am – 4:15pm (30 hours per week)
Connex Education are working with a small, welcoming outstanding mainstream secondary school in the Harborne area of Birmingham who are seeking a SEND HLTA to join their team as soon as possible. This position is to cover maternity leave and offers a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a supportive Learner Support Department.
The Role

Support and contribute to the development of the school’s Learner Support provision under the direction of the SENDCo/SEND Lead Practitioner

Share responsibility for the smooth, day-to-day running of a busy SEND department

Deliver bespoke interventions and support students with SEND needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and/or mental health needs

Liaise with parents, local authority agencies, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students
Requirements
-
Experience working with SEND students, particularly those with SEMH needs
-
Strong background in supporting secondary-aged students
-
Experience working with parents, agencies, and delivering targeted intervention

Excellent reliability and attendance
Desirable
-
HLTA or Level 3 TA qualification

Experience using Microsoft packages, CPOMs, or similar systems

Recent safeguarding training
-
Experience managing or leading TAs in a secondary setting
