About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting SEND Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join the bank staff team at a large, inclusive mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest.
This role offers flexible working to fit around your availability, with opportunities to support pupils across all year groups, from Early Years through to KS2. You will be working with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs, providing support either 1:1 or in small groups within the classroom.
You may also be required to assist with personal care, including toileting and feeding, and will need to confidently support children with challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support for children with SEND across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
- Deliver tailored support through visuals, structured routines, and individualised strategies
- Encourage communication, interaction, and emotional regulation
- Use de-escalation techniques to safely manage challenging behaviour
- Support pupils with toileting, feeding, and personal care needs where required
- Work alongside teachers and support staff to promote inclusion and help pupils access learning
Person Specification
- Experience supporting children with SEND (ASD and complex needs) in schools, care, or similar settings
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and applying de-escalation strategies
- Flexibility to work across year groups and adapt to different classrooms and routines
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children
- Willingness to assist with personal care
- A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Connex
