Tutor Support Assistant
Various locations – family homes, residential settings, and schools
Part-time (typically 2 hours per day)
Competitive hourly rate – dependent on experience
Key Responsibilities

Support tutors on a 2:1 basis, helping deliver engaging, individualised tuition sessions for learners with complex needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and PMLD.

Build trusting relationships with learners, using patience, empathy, and creativity to make each session positive and meaningful.

Assist with implementing structured learning plans that promote communication, independence, and emotional regulation.

Use your health and social care skills to provide holistic, nurturing support—ensuring each learner feels safe, respected, and understood.

Work collaboratively with tutors, families, and professionals to maintain consistency and progress across all learning environments.

Encourage participation through sensory, visual, and practical activities tailored to individual learning styles.

Uphold safeguarding, dignity, and inclusion in every aspect of your work.

Keep clear and professional notes on learner engagement and session outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
-
Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, complex needs, or PMLD).

Background in education, health and social care, or SEND support (desirable).

Calm, compassionate, and adaptable—you thrive when helping children build confidence and skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and reliable approach.

Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply).

Access to transport and flexibility to travel between settings is an advantage.
