About the Role

Connex Education is working with a Primary School in Birkenhead that is recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Year 1 with SEN and challenging behaviour. You will be supporting the child throughout the school day, helping them to access the curriculum and engage with learning in a calm, structured, and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, proactive, and experienced in working with children with additional needs.

Assignment Details

This role is full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, starting in January 2026. There is the possibility for the role to continue for the academic year (until July 2026) for the right candidate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • A Level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification is desirable; however, those with relevant school experience will also be considered.
  • GCSEs or equivalent Level 2 in Maths and English.
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one through Connex.

  • Observant and reflective, able to recognise and respond to changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries in a school setting.
