English Teaching Assistant (TA2/TA3) – Full Time

Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (January – June 2025)
Grade: TA2 or TA3 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only
Start Date: January 2025
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to join our supportive secondary school team in Wythenshawe. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to students who need additional support with their English language and literacy skills.
You will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings, delivering targeted interventions to help them build confidence, improve their reading and writing abilities, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality small group and one-to-one English interventions
- Support students with reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension skills
- Work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to address individual learning needs
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to the English department
- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging engagement and motivation
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and adapt intervention strategies
- Support students with SEND requirements where appropriate
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with secondary-age students
- Strong literacy and communication skills
- Ability to deliver effective small group and one-to-one support
- Patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach
- Commitment to supporting young people’s learning and development
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- TA qualification or relevant experience at TA2/TA3 level
- Knowledge of literacy intervention programmes
- Experience working with students with additional needs
- Understanding of phonics and reading strategies
