About the Role

Are you ready to make a real difference as a Teaching Assistant?

Connex Education is working with a primary school based in Birkenhead, on the Wirral, who are seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with ADHD and highly challenging behaviour. The role involves building a positive, consistent relationship with the pupil, while helping manage refusal, high energy levels, and time out of class.

A nurturing, calm, and patient approach is key. To succeed in this role, you need to have excellent behaviour management skills.

Assignment Details

This role runs Monday to Friday (8:30am–3:30pm). The position starts ASAP in January 2026 and is likely to continue long term for the right person.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • A Level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification is desirable; however, those with relevant school experience will also be considered.
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above for both) or equivalent Level 2.
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one through Connex.

  • Sound understanding of classroom roles, routines, and expectations, and how to contribute effectively to these.
  • Observant and reflective, able to recognise and respond to changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries in a school setting.
  • Committed to continuous personal development and open to feedback and training.
