About the Role

  • Design and Technology Technician
  • Full time
  • Support teaching Design and Technology within a secondary school setting
  • Supporting delivery of engaging and structured lessons that inspire students to achieve their full potential
  • Collaborate closely with our Food Technician and Head of Art
  • Play an important part in preparing resources and supporting learning across the wider faculty.
  • Setting challenging learning objectives and high expectations for all students
  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EAL and high prior attainers
  • Creating a positive and purposeful learning environment that promotes high standards of behaviour and achievement
  • Using a range of assessment strategies to monitor progress and support student development
  • Preparing reports and communicating effectively with parents, carers and colleagues
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school through meetings, events and enrichment opportunities
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and support academy improvement
  • Participating in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Supporting the school’s ethos, values and commitment to inclusive education

This role is based in a well-established Secondary school located in the Nottingham area, easily commutable via car or public transport. On their most recent Ofsted report they achieved a “Good” rating on four out of five key metric areas, with the other being graded “Outstanding”.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role candidates must have / be able to demonstrate:

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Experience or enthusiasm for Computer Aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM) would be a significant advantage.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for all students.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  • Full enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Completion of the Connex Education Onboarding Process.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people to succeed.
  • A minimum of 2 school-based references.
  • A minimum of GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2), a Level 2 NVQ/CACHE/BTEC qualification, or an Experienced Exemption (two years’ referenceable school-based employment).
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
