EYFS Teaching Assistant

Location: Weston-super-Mare

Salary: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Contract: Full-time | September 2026 – December 2026 (with the potential to become permanent)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:15pm

About the Role

Connex Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Weston-super-Mare to recruit a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to support children during the first stages of their education in a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Initially, the role will run until December 2026, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.

Working closely with the class teacher, you will help deliver high-quality learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence. You will support pupils throughout the school day, helping to create a positive classroom environment where every child can thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging EYFS lessons and activities.
  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and encourage progress.
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Assisting with phonics, early reading, writing, and numeracy activities.
  • Encouraging learning through play in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
  • Helping to prepare classroom resources and maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment.
  • Observing children’s progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting children to develop confidence and independence.

Person Specification

  • EYFS experience 
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Connex Education.
  • Previous experience working within an EYFS setting is essential.

  • Is organised, reliable, and proactive in supporting the class teacher.
  • Maintains high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Is committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.
