Location: Weston-super-Mare

Salary: £93–£110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Contract: Full-time | September 2026 – December 2026 (with potential to become permanent)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:15pm

About the Role

Connex Education is partnering with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Weston-super-Mare to appoint a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant. This full-time role begins in September 2026 and initially runs until December 2026, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the successful candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity to support children as they embark on their primary education within a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment. Working closely with the class teacher, you will contribute to delivering high-quality learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

You will support pupils throughout the school day, helping to create a positive classroom atmosphere where every child can thrive and develop essential early learning skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored for Reception pupils.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Assist with phonics, early reading, writing, and numeracy activities.
  • Encourage learning through play and practical activities aligned with the Reception curriculum and EYFS framework.
  • Prepare classroom resources and help maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment.
  • Observe children’s progress and provide constructive feedback to the class teacher.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support children in building confidence, independence, and positive learning habits.

Person Specification

  • Essential: Experience in Reception or EYFS settings..
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or recognised equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one via Connex Education.
