Behaviour Mentor / Youth Worker

Pay: £427.20 – £498.40 per week

Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday

Connex Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor / Youth Worker to join a welcoming primary school in Knowle (B93). This rewarding opportunity involves supporting pupils from EYFS through to Year 6 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

We are looking for compassionate, resilient, and proactive individuals who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. You will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop emotionally, socially, and academically in a nurturing environment.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or those with backgrounds in youth justice, social care, the police, or the armed forces. Team Teach training is highly desirable, although applicants with relevant behaviour management experience are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils with SEMH needs.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to children from EYFS to Year 6.

• Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviours using positive behaviour strategies.

• Encourage the development of social, emotional, and life skills.

• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team to create a safe, supportive learning environment.

• Promote pupil engagement, confidence, and independence throughout the school day.

Requirements

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or additional needs.

• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour using positive and restorative approaches.

• Team Teach training is desirable.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

• Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
