Connex Education is urgently recruiting Trainee Cover Teachers to work in secondary schools across Stroud and the surrounding area.
Are you considering a career in teaching but don’t have the classroom experience yet? Perhaps you’re a recent graduate, teaching assistant, sports coach, tutor, youth worker or someone who simply enjoys working with young people and wants to take the next step?
This could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and confident individuals who are available to work at least 2 days per week, with both part-time and full-time opportunities available.
Previous teaching experience is not essential. We provide free training and ongoing support to help you develop the skills and confidence needed to work successfully in secondary schools.
As a Trainee Cover Teacher, you’ll gain valuable hands-on classroom experience while supporting students with their learning. You’ll work across a variety of secondary schools, giving you the opportunity to experience different environments and discover whether teaching is the right career for you.
What Will You Be Doing?
• Delivering lessons using work and resources prepared by teaching staff.
• Supervising and supporting students throughout the school day.
• Encouraging students to engage with their learning and complete set work.
• Managing classroom behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
• Building positive relationships with students and school staff.
• Creating a positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
• Developing your classroom management and teaching skills with support from our experienced education team.

Who Are We Looking For?
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
• Are available to work at least 2 days per week.
• Are passionate about working with young people.
• Are confident communicating with groups of students.
• Have a degree or relevant experience (desirable, but not essential).
• Have experience working with young people through education, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work or similar settings (desirable).
• Are reliable, professional and adaptable.
• Are keen to develop their classroom management and teaching skills.
• Can build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
No Teaching Experience? No Problem!
You don’t need to have worked as a teacher before.
