School centred initial teacher training for schools
Connex Education Partnership offers a quality-led solution to the very real teacher recruitment crisis. Our programme trains high calibre and committed candidates, taking them from teaching assistants to qualified teachers. Your TAs will benefit from industry-leading training and can be shaped to match your school’s ethos from the beginning.
What are the benefits of Employment-Based SCITT?
Cost-effective training
At a low daily rate, you get a TA and upon completion a qualified teacher all in one package.
Increase retention
Recruitment and retention can be resolved because candidates can be offered a teaching role at the end of the programme. By then you know if they’re a suitable fit for your school.
Shape your own
The candidates will be working in your school full time. This is an excellent opportunity to shape their teaching philosophy to match your school’s ethos.
Decision making
You can make a decision over a longer period of time. Decide whether the candidate is suitable for your school, with no commitment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our selection process is a combination of rigorous background checks, including an enhanced DBS, references, Barred list and NCTL checks, in combination with a competency-based interview and an English and Maths test. Once settled in the school, the candidate will undergo a further interview to be accepted on the PGCE course.
The school will commit to using the candidate in line with our experience progression model to build their skills prior to the start of the PGCE year. The school will assign an ECT mentor, and follow the process outlined. We also ask the school to provide the candidate access to the whole school CPD provided to permanent members of staff. We also ask a mentor to be assigned to the candidate, similar to an ECT. We will provide all training necessary for the mentor. The candidate will also be required to work in another school for 6 weeks during the programme. We ask that you host another candidate from another school during this time.
The training introduces teaching and behaviour management skills. Training is provided via a blended mix of web-based technology, face to face and 1-1 coaching/mentoring and residential study weeks.
After successfully completing the programme, the school has 3 options:
1. Release the teacher if there is no need in the school
2. Employ the teacher on an FTC or a permanent contract with no introduction fee
3. Keep the teacher on a supply basis.
If the candidate is deemed unsuitable for your school or chooses to leave mid-programme then there is no extra charge. We will if required, find a suitable mid-programme replacement.
We do. The price you pay per day, covers all fees, from PGCE costs to paying the candidate, and all associated costs.
