Connex Education are recruiting ASC / SEMH Learning Support Assistants to work across a range of schools in Gloucester and the surrounding areas. Whether you are looking for regular day-to-day supply, short-term placements or a longer-term role, we can offer opportunities to suit your availability and experience.
You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of educational settings, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other additional needs.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, your role will vary depending on the school and placement. You could be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, working within a classroom or providing small-group support or intervention.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH and a range of additional needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group learning support
- Helping pupils access the curriculum and engage with learning
- Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and social development
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Helping create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
- Following individual support plans and strategies
- Working alongside teachers and other support staff
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Adapting your approach to meet individual pupils’ needs
Flexible Supply Work

- Short-term placements – support schools for a few days or weeks
- Long-term placements – secure a regular placement within one school
- Full-time or part-time opportunities

About You
We are looking for candidates who are patient, reliable, nurturing and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
Experience supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, challenging behaviour, ADHD or other SEND needs is desirable, although relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
