Connex - Birmingham
Autism Tutor – South Birmingham
Location: South Birmingham (home tuition)
Hours: Flexible – typically 3–4 sessions per week
Pay: Competitive daily rate, paid weekly (PAYE)
About the Role:
Connex Education is recruiting for a Qualified Teacher to work on a one-to-one basis with a primary-aged student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is currently not attending school.
This flexible role allows you to manage your own schedule while working closely with students outside of a traditional classroom, giving you the unique opportunity to see the direct impact of your teaching on their progress.
Tuition will take place in the student’s home and will require a tailored, play-based approach to support engagement and develop basic skills. The student is non-verbal, with significant speech and language developmental delay, so experience and confidence with PECS and alternative communication methods is essential.
The sessions should use sensory and interactive learning, with clear structure using objects of reference, symbols, pictures, and a now/next board to provide clear direction and support the student’s communication and understanding.
We are looking for a tutor who can provide a calm, nurturing, and consistent learning environment. As a Home Tutor, you’ll need a dynamic, creative teaching style and the ability to quickly adapt strategies to keep the student engaged and progressing.
