About the Role.
Connex Education are working with a specialist school in Rotherham, who are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join them on a full time basis. This role will be starting early 2026.
About the School.
Providng education and emotional support to students aged 5 – 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, the school have specialist staff onsite who have excellent behaviour management skills and de-escalation techniques. Children are cared for to exceptional standards, ensuring trusting relationships are formed and maintained with students.
The successful applicant will be able to work Monday – Friday and be available to commit to the school and could be a temp to perm role for the right person. Working hours are 8.30am until 3.30pm.

Person Specification.
- Have experience of working in a schoolor care background and have experience or a strong interest in working with students with SEND / SEMH
- Be resilient and dedicated to making a difference to students with SEMH needs
- Be a team player – able to work with staff and use initiative in challenging situations
- Have confidence or experience liasing with healthcare professionals and parents / carers
- A Team Teach Qualification would be advantageous when applying for this role, yet not a necessity.
- Have a full enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new one
