Connex Education Partnership is looking for resilient, patient and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to work across specialist SEND schools and settings in Cheltenham and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Support Workers and SEND professionals who are passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and develop positive relationships, routines and behaviours.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you may work with pupils who require additional support with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, communication and interaction needs, attachment difficulties, anxiety, emotional regulation and challenging or distressed behaviour. You may also support pupils with SLD, PMLD or complex learning needs, where behaviour can be linked to communication, sensory or other individual needs.
You could be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or as part of a wider classroom team, helping them to regulate their emotions, engage with learning and successfully access their education. Every pupil is different, so a calm, consistent and individualised approach is essential.
The Role
- Supporting children and young people with a range of SEND and behavioural needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
- Helping pupils manage emotions, regulate behaviour and develop coping strategies
- Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining consistent boundaries
- Building trusting and positive relationships with pupils
- Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom routines
- Working alongside teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams
- Supporting pupils who may display distressed, dysregulated or challenging behaviour
- Using appropriate de-escalation and behaviour-management strategies
- Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
