Support Inclusive Learning as a BSL Teaching Assistant
Are you a qualified BSL Level 2 Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact? Join Connex Education and support hearing-impaired and sensory support to pupils at a welcoming school in the Bolton area. Experience in a school setting is essential.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring all pupils can access learning in a supportive, inclusive environment. You will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to provide tailored communication support and help thrive both academically and socially.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils with hearing impairments using British Sign Language
- Working 1:1 or with small groups to aid understanding and participation
- Adapting classroom communication to meet individual needs
- Promoting inclusion and engagement across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, and older year groups
- Supporting teachers in delivering accessible and engaging lessons
Assignment Details
- Full-time and part-time roles available from April 2026

What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
- BSL Level 2 qualification (essential) – No Makaton
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
- GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
- DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Skills & Attributes:
- Confident in using BSL to support communication and learning
- Patient, empathetic, and inclusive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Reliable, adaptable, and professional
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
