Job Title: BSL Tutor / Interpreter
Location: Birmingham City Centre
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 1:00pm (Part-Time)
Start Date: November 2025
Pay Rate: £35.00 Per Hour
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled BSL Tutor / Interpreter to support Deaf A-Level students within a vibrant and inclusive college environment in Birmingham City Centre. The successful candidate will provide high-quality British Sign Language interpretation and communication support, ensuring equal access to teaching, learning, and the wider college experience.
You will play a vital role in promoting independence, inclusion, and positive educational outcomes, working closely with teaching and support staff to create an accessible and engaging learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate and professional BSL interpretation during lessons, tutorials, and college events.

Support Deaf students in understanding and accessing course materials, assignments, and discussions.

Adapt communication to suit individual learner needs, ensuring clarity and comprehension.

Collaborate effectively with teaching staff to promote inclusion and remove barriers to learning.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Contribute to learners’ confidence, independence, and overall academic success.
Requirements:

Qualified BSL Tutor / Interpreter – BSL Level 3 or above (Level 6 preferred).

Proven experience supporting Deaf learners, ideally within an educational or college setting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, empathetic, and learner-centred approach.

Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of Deaf learners.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
