Key Responsibilities

Deliver personalised, engaging lessons for learners with complex needs, including ASD, SLD, PMLD, and communication challenges.
-
Use Makaton and PECS effectively to support expressive and receptive communication.
-
Work closely with families, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a joined-up approach.
-
Adapt your approach using sensory, visual, and kinaesthetic resources to meet each student’s learning style.
-
Focus on EHCP-led outcomes including communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and life skills.
-
Provide nurturing emotional and behavioural support to build trust, calm, and a safe space for learning.
-
Maintain progress notes, session logs, and communication reports as part of the wider support team.
-
Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and dignity in every aspect of your practice.
What We’re Looking For
-
QTS, QTLS, HLTA status or significant experience as a SEND tutor or learning mentor.
-
Proficient in Makaton and PECS—able to embed these into every session with confidence.
-
A strong understanding of ASD, SLD, SEMH, sensory processing, and attachment needs.
-
Creative, caring, and flexible—you can adapt to the needs of the moment and the learner.

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
-
Own transport preferred, but not essential.
