About the role
Connex Education Birmingham is seeking a Cover Supervisor to work in a variety of secondary schools and academies located in and around Birmingham, both north and south. This is a full-time position, and we are looking for candidates who have recent experience in a UK secondary school setting. However, candidates with a minimum of 3 months of voluntary experience in a similar role, such as a Learning Mentor, Cover Supervisor, or Teaching Assistant, are also encouraged to apply.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher. Your duties will include:
- Supervising and supporting students in their learning activities.
- Ensuring that students remain on task and engaged with their work.
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Providing feedback to students on their progress and behaviour.
- Assisting with the preparation of classroom resources and materials.
- Supporting the overall ethos and values of the school.
Assignment Details
This position will start as soon as possible and will continue for the duration of the academic year.

Person Specification
• Recent experience working in a UK secondary school
• A minimum of 3 months of voluntary experience in a similar role is acceptable.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
• A dedicated individual with high expectations for student behaviour and engagement.
