About the Role
Connex Education is working with a network of welcoming primary schools across Derby City Centre and surrounding areas who are seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support learning across the classroom on a flexible, supply basis, including day-to-day and short-term cover.
The role involves delivering pre-planned lessons in the teacher’s absence, leading small group interventions, and supporting pupils across a range of abilities. You will work closely with class teachers and senior staff to maintain continuity of learning, support classroom management, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for qualified HLTAs or experienced Teaching Assistants ready to take on additional classroom responsibility.

Assignment Details
Roles are available immediately, with flexible full-time and part-time opportunities to suit your availability. Assignments include day-to-day supply, intervention work, and longer-term placements where HLTAs may be required to deliver lessons or provide class cover when needed.

Person Specification
HLTA qualification or recent UK-based experience working at HLTA level within a primary school
Confident delivering pre-planned lessons and leading small group interventions
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Patient, flexible, and able to adapt quickly to different school environments
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
