History Teacher
Location: Bury
Start Date: ASAP until end of academic year (July 2026)
Salary: Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale (dependent on experience)
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join our secondary school on a temporary basis for the remainder of the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5)
- Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and create a positive learning environment
- Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and departmental resources
- Support students’ wider academic and personal development through pastoral responsibilities
- Attend department meetings, parents’ evenings and school events as required
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding protocols
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Strong subject knowledge in History across relevant key stages
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to high standards and continuous improvement
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Experience teaching History at secondary level
- Familiarity with current GCSE and/or A-Level History specifications
- Evidence of innovative teaching approaches and use of technology
