History Teacher

Location: Bury

Start Date: ASAP until end of academic year (July 2026)

Salary: Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale (dependent on experience)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join our secondary school on a temporary basis for the remainder of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5)
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and create a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and departmental resources
  • Support students’ wider academic and personal development through pastoral responsibilities
  • Attend department meetings, parents’ evenings and school events as required
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding protocols

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in History across relevant key stages
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high standards and continuous improvement
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching History at secondary level
  • Familiarity with current GCSE and/or A-Level History specifications
  • Evidence of innovative teaching approaches and use of technology
