Outreach Tutor – SEND Support (School & Home-Based)
Location: Hackney
Salary: £20 – £30 per hour (depending on experience & qualifications)
Start Date: April 2025
Part-time role – 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday (timings tbc)
About the Role
Connex Education is currently recruiting for an experienced Outreach Tutor to provide 1:1 educational support for a pupil in Hackney. This role involves working with a student who requires additional learning support, either within a school setting or in their home environment.
As an Outreach Tutor, you will work closely with pupils who may have SEND, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, or be out of mainstream education. Your role will focus on providing personalised academic and emotional support, helping students engage with learning and build confidence. You will also work alongside the SEND team, teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a structured and supportive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored 1:1 tutoring sessions in core subjects, adapting content to the pupil’s needs.
- Provide structured support to pupils who may struggle with mainstream education due to SEND, anxiety, or behavioural challenges.
- Work either in-school or in the pupil’s home, depending on individual circumstances.
- Implement strategies to help students develop academic skills, confidence, and emotional resilience.
- Liaise with teachers, parents, and support staff to monitor progress and set achievable learning goals.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt lesson plans accordingly.
Assignment Details
- Part-time role – 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
- Flexible working hours (depending on pupil and school schedules).

Person Specification
- Experience in 1:1 tutoring, outreach teaching, or SEND support.
- Strong knowledge of SEND, SEMH, and alternative learning strategies.
- Ability to build rapport and engage students with individualised learning plans.
- A relevant teaching or tutoring qualification (desirable).
- A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Connex.
