Role: Primary School Teacher
Rate of pay: £700 – £900 P/W – Dependant on experience
Location: Birmingham, Handsworth
**About the role**
As a PPA teacher, you’ll provide classroom cover while the class teacher takes their Planning, Preparation and Assessment time. Your role is to deliver the lessons they have set, maintain a calm and productive learning environment, and ensure pupils stay engaged and supported in their learning. You’ll work across different classes and year groups, adapting to a range of subjects, routines and pupil needs. You’ll follow the school’s behaviour policies, guide pupils where needed, and may mark or leave feedback on the work completed during your sessions. While you support pupils’ progress during your teaching time, the long-term planning and assessment remain the responsibility of the class teacher.
**Role Requirements**
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant degree.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2.
- Strong subject knowledge across core and foundation subjects.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Good classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to assess, track, and support pupil progress.
- Patience, empathy, and understanding of children’s needs.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
