About the Role

Connex Education is working in partnership with welcoming mainstream Primary Schools across Derby (DE22) and surrounding areas who are recruiting Primary Teachers to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This role involves working within SEND hubs, resource bases and inclusive classrooms across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Responsibilities include delivering tailored lessons, adapting learning to meet individual needs, supporting emotional and behavioural development and working closely with school SENCOs and support staff.

For day-to-day supply, lesson planning is not required, as schools provide clear guidance and resources.

Our partner schools are inclusive and community-focused, with dedicated SEND provisions and supportive staff teams. Schools are seeking patient, adaptable and experienced teachers who can build strong relationships with pupils and confidently support a range of additional needs.


Assignment Details

Roles are available on a part-time or full-time basis throughout the academic year. Opportunities include both day-to-day supply and longer-term assignments, offering flexibility to suit individual availability and preferences.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience working within UK primary schools

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in mainstream settings

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • Ability to adapt lessons and differentiate learning effectively

  • Knowledge of EHCPs, SEND strategies and inclusive practice

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
