Connex Education is partnering with a primary school in the Whitby area to find an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children across Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2 in a welcoming and supportive school community. Assignment Details
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday. You will be working within the classroom to support the class teacher, assisting pupils both individually and in small groups. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Key Stage 1 (KS1) or Key Stage 2 (KS2) classroom support
- Supporting literacy and numeracy development
- Working with pupils with additional needs or SEND
- Behaviour management and positive reinforcement strategies
Experience in a primary school or similar educational setting is desirable but not always essential — a genuine passion for working with children is what matters most. This is an ongoing role with an immediate start.
Person Specification
- Previous experience working with primary-age children in a school or educational setting
- Able to support children both 1:1 and within small groups under teacher direction
- Calm, consistent, and solutions-focused under pressure
- A warm, patient, and encouraging approach to supporting children’s learning
- Teaching Assistant or relevant childcare qualification — desirable
- Current DBS on the update service, or willing to apply for a new one
