The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide valuable classroom support, working alongside teachers to help pupils engage with learning and develop their confidence, independence and skills.

Depending on your placement, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons
• Providing one-to-one and small group support where required
• Encouraging pupils to participate positively and confidently in learning
• Helping with classroom organisation and the preparation of learning resources
• Supporting positive behaviour in accordance with school policies
• Developing positive and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents/carers
• Helping to maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• Previous experience working with children or young people within a school, childcare, education or similar environment is highly desirable
• A positive, patient and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
• The Right to Work in the UK

Due to the nature of these roles, priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate previous experience working with children or young people within education, childcare, youth work or a similar setting.
