Trained Pyschologist / SEND Support Worker Role

About the role
Connex Education is seeking a dedicated part-time/full-time SEN Support Worker with a psychology background, you’ll work directly with children and young people with special educational needs, applying evidence-based approaches to support their learning, emotional regulation, and social development.
Your psychology knowledge will be invaluable in:
- Understanding cognitive and developmental stages to tailor support appropriately
- Recognizing behavioural patterns and implementing positive behaviour strategies
- Supporting emotional wellbeing using therapeutic approaches
- Applying learning theories to create effective educational interventions
- Building rapport through understanding of attachment and relationship dynamics
- Contributing insights to multidisciplinary team assessments and planning

Assignment Details:
This role provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in at-risk learners’ lives within a dedicated SEN setting.

You will be on a 1:1 basis with your allocated pupil, within a class of up to 5 and a teacher.

As a successful SEND Teaching Assistant with Connex Education Partnership, you will possess:
- Hold a relevant Qualification in SEND or Teaching Assistant
- Degree in Psychology (or currently studying towards one)
- Passion for working with children and young people with SEN
- Understanding of child development, learning theories, or behavioural psychology
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours
- Commitment to inclusive education and neurodiversity
- Previous experience with children
