About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Science Teacher to join our dynamic secondary school in Wythenshawe. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to make a real difference in students’ lives while working in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality science education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential involvement in Key Stage 5 depending on specialism and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support students’ personal and academic development
- Contribute to the wider school community through extra-curricular activities
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and participate in department meetings
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and best practices
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in Science or related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
- Experience teaching science at secondary level
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable Qualities
- Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
- Experience with exam board specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
- Knowledge of current educational initiatives and teaching methods
- Experience with practical laboratory work and safety procedures
- Additional qualifications in education or professional development
