SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant

Location: Kirkby-In-Ashfield, surrounding areas of Nottinghamshire

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant in Mansfield to provide 1:1 support for a student with specific needs. 

Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Kirkby-In-Ashfield 

Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary Long Term

Salary: £350 – £400 per week

Role Overview:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of student with SEMH challenges, with a particular focus on providing 1:1 support for a student with specific. Your responsibilities will include:

  • 1:1 Support: Offering dedicated one-on-one support to a male student who may be disengaged, tailoring learning activities to his unique learning needs and fostering his academic progress.
  • Assisting Teachers: Collaborating with classroom teachers to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.
  • Behavioral Support: Implementing behavior management strategies to help the disengaged student achieve his social and emotional goals and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation and organization of learning materials, ensuring they are accessible to the students.
  • Collaborative Approach: Working closely with other members of the SEMH team, parents/guardians, and external professionals to provide a comprehensive and integrated support system for the disengaged student.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or individuals with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges is preferred but not essential.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, understanding the diverse needs of students and adapting your support accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality within an educational setting.
  • Flexibility in working hours and the ability to adapt to changing schedules.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
