About the role
Connex Education seeks a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant for a Teesside pupil referral unit, starting September 2025. The role pays up to £500 per week and involves supporting Key Stage 3 & 4 students with special educational needs who are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools.
You’ll work with vulnerable young people who have Education, Health and Care Plans, providing crucial support to keep them in education during critical periods. The position requires experience supporting diverse SEN students and genuine commitment to making a positive impact.

This Monday-Friday role provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in at-risk learners’ lives within a dedicated SEN setting.

As a successful SEND Teaching Assistant with Connex Education Partnership, you will possess:
- Hold a relevant Qualification in SEND or Teaching Assistant
- Have experience working with individuals with SEN
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Confident in your behaviour management skills
- Calm, resilient and able to communicate well with young people
- Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to apply for a new one through Connex
- Team Teach trained- preferred
- Be able to show proof of work in the UK
