About the role
Connex Education is recruiting for qualified and/or experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to work in mainstream primary schools across Middlesbrough, providing 1:1 and small group support.
About the opportunities
We work with a variety of mainstream primary schools that are committed to inclusive education for pupils with Special Educational Needs. As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children across KS1 and KS2 who require additional support, working both on a 1:1 basis and with small groups to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
All schools within our network are dedicated to providing pupils with diverse learning needs with a nurturing and inclusive environment. We are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants who are compassionate, patient, and skilled at adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs and support children’s academic and personal development.
Assignment Details

Person Specification
- Essential: Experience working with children with SEN in a primary setting and/or relevant SEN qualifications (Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
- Knowledge of different SEN needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.
- Experience delivering 1:1 and small group interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must hold a DBS on update service or willing to apply for one.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt support strategies to individual needs.
- Good organization and multitasking abilities.
