About the Role:
Connex Education is recruiting for Middlesbrough Local Authority to find an ambitious tutor for their learning support team. This long-term, part-time position offers flexibility for tutors in Middlesbrough or surrounding areas. The role involves supporting students with additional learning needs through the council’s educational services. It provides stability through a short-term basis with a possibility to extend to long term, while maintaining flexible working arrangements, making it ideal for qualified tutors seeking meaningful work in specialized learning support within their local community.
About the school/organisation:
The organisation caters for pupils with a range of educational needs and who have learning difficulties functioning below age-related expectations, including those with SEMH needs. Based in Middlesbrough or surrounding areas, this specialized learning support role offers stability and flexibility.
Assignment Details:
This role involves providing 1:1 academic support to KS3/4 students with SEND/SEMH needs at a central venue following the outreach curriculum. Working 15 hours weekly (3 hours daily, Monday-Friday) at up to £30 per hour (depending on experience), you’ll support pupils with learning difficulties functioning below age-related expectations. The ideal candidate is hardworking, resilient, experienced with special educational needs, and passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.

As a successful Tutor with Connex Education Partnership, you will possess:
- Hold a QTS Qualification
- Have experience working with individuals with SEN
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Calm, resilient and able to communicate well with young people
- Confident in your behaviour management skills
- Be able to immediately start
- Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a DBS through Connex
- Be able to show proof of work in the UK
