Looking to Leave the Classroom, But Not Education?

If you’re an experienced teacher looking for a better work-life balance without leaving education behind, this could be the role for you.

Connex Education Partnership is looking for compassionate, confident SEN Tutors to deliver personalised one-to-one tuition to children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships, make a real impact, and focus on what matters most: teaching.

The Role

You’ll provide tailored one-to-one tuition for learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.

This is an independent role, so you’ll need to be confident planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons that meet each learner’s individual needs.

Availability across Monday to Friday is preferred, with a minimum commitment of three days per week. Sessions are typically around two hours per student, with realistic opportunities for additional hours.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit individual learners.
  • Support children and young people with a range of SEND.
  • Build confidence, independence, and engagement with learning.
  • Monitor progress and complete session feedback.
  • Work closely with families, schools, and other professionals.

About You

We welcome applications from qualified Primary or Secondary teachers looking to step away from the classroom, as well as experienced unqualified teachers.

To be successful, you’ll need:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Confidence planning and delivering lessons independently is essential.
  • Knowledge of needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties is highly desirable.
  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Experience with PECS, Makaton, or Attention Autism is an advantage but isn’t essential.

What We Offer

  • £20–£25 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Flexible working to suit your lifestyle.
  • Guaranteed minimum hours and paid preparation time.
  • Ongoing support from our Specialised Home Tuition team.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every day.

Apply Today

If you’re ready to leave the classroom but still want to change lives through education, we’d love to hear from you.
