Pay: £20–£25 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Flexible Part-Time or Full-Time (Monday–Friday)

About Connex Education

At Connex Education Partnership, we provide personalised one-to-one support for young people who are unable to access mainstream education. Through our Alternative Provision service, we help learners overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and make meaningful progress through tailored intervention programmes.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEND Intervention Tutor to support students in the Great Barr area on a one-to-one basis.

Working with secondary-aged learners, you will deliver targeted interventions designed to improve engagement, confidence, emotional wellbeing, communication skills, and academic outcomes. The young people you support may have a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.

This role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, identify individual learning barriers, and implement strategies that help students achieve their full potential.

Availability across Monday to Friday is preferred, with a minimum commitment of three days per week. Sessions are typically around two hours per day, with opportunities for additional hours available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised one-to-one SEND intervention sessions.

  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and engagement.

  • Develop tailored intervention plans based on individual needs and outcomes.

  • Promote confidence, resilience, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

  • Adapt strategies and resources to support a range of SEND profiles.

  • Monitor progress and complete session reports.

  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, local authorities, and other professionals.

  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment.

About You

We welcome applications from teachers, tutors, learning mentors, intervention specialists, and experienced SEND professionals.

You should have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.

  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.

  • Experience delivering interventions or personalised learning support.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A patient, flexible, and solution-focused approach.

  • The ability to motivate and engage learners who may have had negative educational experiences.

Experience with communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or Attention Autism is desirable but not essential.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working to fit around your schedule.

  • Competitive hourly pay rates.

  • Guaranteed minimum hours and paid preparation time.

  • The freedom to deliver personalised interventions tailored to individual needs.

  • Ongoing support from our dedicated Alternative Provision team.

  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives.
