SEND Learning Support Assistant

£384.60 per week, increasing to £480 per week after 12 weeks

About the role

Connex Education is working with a SEND School in Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan who are recruiting an experienced Learning support assistant. Whilst a background in special needs is not essential, a strong understanding of the needs of learners with ALN and/or social, emotional, and mental health needs would be advantageous. Candidate who have mainstream experience, have worked as a care/support worker would be suitable.

About the school

The SEND Learning Support Assistant role is based in a lively and stimulating pupil-centred school in Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan.

The school caters for pupils with a range of additional learning needs, this would include ADHD, ASD, PMLD and SEMH. Although, sometimes challenging, you will not find job satisfaction like it anywhere else.

Assignment Details

As a Learning Support Assistant within a SEN school, we are looking for people who are willing and able to turn their hand to a variety of curriculum ideas and activities. Someone who can help our pupils engage and enjoy life affirming experiences. Someone who recognised the important of both high support and high challenge.

Person Specification

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Care/Support Worker
  • Must be 19 or over.
  • Must have UK school-based experience.
  • Strong knowledge of learners with ALN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must hold a Child and Adult DBS on update service or willing to apply for one. 
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Flexibility.
  • Good organization and multitasking abilities
