Connex Education is working with a reputable secondary school in Middlesbrough to recruit an experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant.

About the Role
The school seeks a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will:
- Work alongside teachers and the SENCO to support students with various special educational needs and disabilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group assistance to SEND students
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs)
- Contribute to students’ social and emotional development
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt learning materials for SEND pupils
Person Specification
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience as a Teaching Assistant in a SEND setting
- Demonstrated success in supporting secondary school students with diverse special educational needs
Qualifications:
- Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent desired but not essential
- Additional SEND-specific qualifications would be advantageous
Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of various special educational needs and disabilities
- Strong communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff
- Patience and empathy, with the ability to form positive relationships with pupils
- Adaptability to meet the varied needs of SEND students
- Proficiency in literacy and numeracy
