About the Role

  • Student Support Assistant
  • Permanent position, term time only (39 weeks per year)
  • 37 hours per week
  • Start date of 1st September 2026
  • Working as part of the school’s dedicated Student Support Team
  • Supporting students, staff and parents to quickly resolve issues relating to behaviour, attendance and welfare
  • Taking a lead role in supporting students whose behaviour presents a significant barrier to their own success
  • Acting as a Key Worker for some of the school’s most vulnerable students
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping students engage successfully with their education
  • Supporting the school’s commitment to maintaining a calm, safe and productive learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies where required
  • Building positive relationships with students to encourage attendance, wellbeing and academic succes

Person Specification

  • To be considered for this role candidates must have / be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience of working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral, youth work or support setting.
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Experience of supporting students with behavioural, attendance or welfare-related needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, resilient and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
  • Full enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Completion of the Connex Education Onboarding Process.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • A minimum of 2 professional references.
