About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting Supply Teachers to work across primary schools in Derby city centre and the surrounding DE1 area from September 2026.
With only a few weeks remaining until the start of the new academic year, we are looking to speak with teachers who are considering flexible supply work, short-term assignments or longer-term opportunities within local primary schools.
As a Supply Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure pupils continue to receive high-quality teaching in the absence of their usual class teacher.
We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lessons in line with school planning and the curriculum.
- Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Manage behaviour confidently and consistently.
- Adapt quickly to different schools, year groups and classroom routines.
- Keep pupils engaged and support their progress throughout the school day.
- Work professionally and collaboratively with teaching and support staff.

Person Specification
We’re looking for candidates who have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Recent experience teaching within a UK primary school or completing a UK teacher training placement.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Confidence teaching across different year groups and adapting to new environments.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, reliable approach.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
