About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting Supply Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Ilkeston, West Hallam, Kirk Hallam, Stanley Common, Smalley and the wider DE7 area from September 2026.
With September approaching, now is the ideal time to complete your registration and get ready for flexible work across local primary schools in the new academic year.
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Placements can involve whole-class support, working with small groups or providing one-to-one support to pupils who need additional help with their learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Assist class teachers with lessons, activities and everyday classroom routines.
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation and engagement.
- Help pupils access learning and develop their confidence.
- Provide additional support for pupils with learning or behavioural needs where required.

Person Specification
We’re looking for candidates who have:
- Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or a similar educational setting.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.
- Confidence supporting pupils individually and in small groups.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, patient approach.
- A reliable and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to different school environments.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
