About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting caring and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in mainstream primary schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas. We have opportunities for flexible day-to-day supply work, short-term placements and long-term positions.
You’ll support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their individual targets. You’ll work alongside class teachers and SENCOs in inclusive classroom environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
- Help deliver engaging and accessible learning activities
- Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Help pupils stay focused and engaged
- Encourage independence and positive behaviour
- Adapt support to individual learning needs and EHCP targets
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals
- Provide personal care where required and appropriately trained
- Help create a safe, positive and inclusive classroom
- Build positive relationships with pupils
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous SEND experience, although it is desirable. We’re particularly interested in people with experience in schools, childcare, youth work, care or support work.
You’ll also need:
- A patient, caring and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children
- The ability to adapt to different school environments
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex
- The right to work in the UK
