Job Title: Ukrainian Speaking SEN Tutor
Location: Birmingham, Castle Bromwich
Salary: £20 – £30 per hour (depending on experience & qualifications)

About the role
Connex education is recruiting for a Ukrainian-Speaking tutor to teach Ukrainian children with special educational needs. This is a flexible role teaching students who are not attending school. You will be working with students who have an educational health care plan (EHCP) to create bespoke lessons for individual needs. You can work on a part time or full-time basis as you have the option to manage your own diary.
The student is a young girl suffering from down syndrome and does not speak any English. As her Home Tutor, it is essential that you have a dynamic teaching style and can identify areas of improvement required when working on a 1:1 basis.
Assignment Details
This role will start immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one home tuition for children with a range of SEN, including autism, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
- Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes in line with each child’s EHCP.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, interests, and emotional needs.
- Support pupils to develop academic skills, independence, and emotional regulation.
- Work closely with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on progress.
- Liaise with schools, local authorities, and other professionals to support a joined-up approach.
- Create a calm, supportive, and motivating learning environment within the home setting.
Key Requirements:
- Fluency in Ukrainian is required. An educational background is preferred.
- Experience teaching (either QTS or non-QTS) children with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism, SEMH, and complex learning needs is preferred.
- Experience with PECS and/or Makaton is desirable but not a necessity.
- Relevant teaching qualifications (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) preferred, though not essential with strong SEN experience.
- A fully up-to-date CV detailing all your work and education history ready for compliance checks
- A genuine passion for supporting children who require alternative provision.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals.
- Ability to travel within the local area (driving preferred but not essential)
