Tell us a bit about yourself?
“My name is Tammy and I am a SEN Tutor. I am currently tutoring a variety of students with a variety of needs. From GCSE/Functional Skills Maths and English to EYFS. After working in schools in a variety of roles, I needed a new challenge. If I am totally honest, like many others, I felt disillusioned with the education system and felt I was not making enough of a difference to the students I was working with. Working with Connex has reignited my passion for education in particular supporting some of the most disadvantaged or vulnerable students.“

Why does tutoring with Connex suit you?
Due to a change in family circumstances I wanted to find something that gave me some flexibility to choose my hours.
What are the best parts of your job as a tutor?
My favourite part of the job is seeing the progress the students make especially watching their confidence grow. Often the students feel they have been written off by traditional education methods. Being able to tailor their learning to them individually enables them to make progress and helps them to achieve their potential.
What does being awarded the Professional Tutor Quality Mark from Connex Tutors mean to you?
I was over the moon to be awarded the Professional Tutor Quality Mark. It was a big step into the unknown when I became a tutor. I was leaving something I knew inside out, with the backing of a whole school team to go out into the big, wide world on my own. Ultimately, I knew I had the right skills, knowledge and experience but even so it was nerve racking. To be awarded the Quality Mark proves (to me more than anybody else) that I AM doing the right thing and that I am making a difference.
