About the Role

Connex Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced English Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school and sixth form in Stroud from September 2026. This is a full-time position for the Autumn Term, with the potential to continue for the remainder of the academic year for the right candidate.
This is a full teaching responsibility role, including planning, preparation, assessment, and marking. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.
• Take full responsibility for planning, preparation, assessment, and marking.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student progress and achievement.
• Inspire a love of literature and language while developing students’ confidence in reading, writing, and communication.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support attainment.
• Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and GCSE examinations.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

Person Specification
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• Previous experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 level is essential.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for raising attainment and fostering a love of English.
• Commitment to equality, inclusion, and diversity in education.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
