1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Bath & North East Somerset (BANES)
Salary: £93 – £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
Connex Education is proud to be working in partnership with the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT) to recruit caring and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across Bath & North East Somerset.
We are seeking individuals interested in flexible day-to-day supply work, short-term assignments and long-term placements, supporting children with additional learning, social, emotional and communication needs.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual pupils to help them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their personal and academic goals. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child’s school experience while working within supportive and inclusive school communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Support pupils to access classroom learning and participate fully in school life
- Assist with implementing individual support plans and EHCP targets where appropriate
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
- Adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of each pupil
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Work closely with class teachers, SENDCos and other professionals to support pupil progress
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential
- A patient, caring and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their full potential
- Ability to remain calm, flexible and proactive in a school environment
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
- Right to work in the UK
