About the Role

Connex Education is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in North Somerset, including schools within the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT), as well as other local schools.

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the class teacher and helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. You will work with pupils across the classroom, supporting whole-class learning, small groups, and individual pupils where appropriate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference to their learning, confidence, and development. You will work closely with teachers, SENDCo’s, and wider school staff to help pupils achieve their potential both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with the planning and delivery of engaging lessons
  • Work with individuals, small groups, and the wider class to support learning
  • Reinforce learning and help pupils develop their knowledge and understanding
  • Support pupils across a range of subjects and activities
  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and learning materials
  • Encourage pupils to participate positively and develop confidence and independence
  • Provide additional support to pupils who may require extra help with their learning
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development

Person Specification

  • Experience working with children is beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience in a school, childcare, youth work, or similar setting is desirable
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is advantageous
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development
  • Patient, enthusiastic, approachable, and adaptable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to encourage and motivate pupils
  • Understanding of safeguarding and the importance of creating a safe environment for children
  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to apply
